AP Using Ethereum to Publish US Presidential Election Race Calls

The Associated Press (AP) used the Ethereum blockchain to validate and publish the results of yesterday’s United States Presidential elections. Specifically, the news platform integrated Everipedia's software.

Details:

The US Presidential Election is one of the most followed democratic processes in the world. By using technology to relay election race calls, AP demonstrated that it was indeed possible to improve processes without jeopardizing results or the authenticity of the results. Voters would go on as usual but behind the scene, results would be transmitted to interested parties via infrastructure provided by a reliable network.

Impact on the ETH Price:

Neutral. Yesterday’s application was just one of the many use-cases in Ethereum and blockchain. AP incorporation of Ethereum legitimizes the technology and further cements its position since governments are receptive to the blockchain.
